About book To Catch A Bad Guy (Book One): Janet Maple Series (2013)
BLEHHHHH.This was the first novel I have read for leisure in a long time... I decided to check it out, being free for Amazon Prime users.. It seemed fun at first. Janet's character got irritating quickly. I don't understand why such a smart, professional, and classy lady would have "endearing" awkward qualities.Luckily I took a class on white collar crime so I could recall some the jargon used regarding that. But I feel like the book lost its charm very quickly. I wanted to stop reading a couple times, but I didn't want to stop the first novel I decided to read in awhile... The reason I did not give this title a two star rating is because some thought was put into it, and it was offered for free. It was not completely horrible but some of the repeated expressions used made me cringe a little. Also, Janet is supposedly a super justice seeking woman, but she had the thought process regarding men like a high school girl. The novel is pretty simple regarding everything besides the criminal justice aspects. It is definitely not the worst thing I have read, but it would not be the first book I recommend. It was a good book detailing how the personal life of Janet, an attorney who gets pulled between a friend, a potential love interest and her job = a series of jumping around trying to decide who is guilty of wrong doing and the least devastating way to handle the situation. To say you can't judge a book by its cover is proven here as she does have a dog but other than her pet liking someone, there is not animal interaction. The cover definitely caught my eye and appeared to be a light hearted easy read. It was an easy read, but more serious than the cover reflected.
