Thug Lovin' was a great read! I loved it. It was more interesting than I expected. The author used IMAGERY in her writing piece. There was so much scandal that you couldn't help but envision it. When Tasha speaks about Trae's affair with his business partner, you feel as if you are right there watching: creepy I know. Also when she speaks about how Tasha went outside to beat Trae's motorcycle in because the business girl bought it for him. I can honestly see her in the front yard with a bat beating at the gift. I think she performed imagery very well by the examples stated above. Many stories cannot make you feel as if you are there. Even if you never been to the "hood" you can relate and imagine it. There are a few ideas I took from this text that I could teach students. They should always write about something they know about. You don't always have to write on an off the wall topic that you don't know anything about. Stories become more exciting when it's personal. You can fathom some of it but for the most part great stories come from an author's personal experiences. I can use the motorcycle passage to show all the feelings that were entailed into the text. Author's should always show emotion so the reader can understand and imagine what they feel even if the reader never been in that situation. This book was a hot mess for Tasha and Trey. They shouldn't have went to the west coast. I can't believe Trey let Charli into their lives like that. Marvin always has been a done deal with the drugs but I was actually rooting for him to make it through. Sabeerah was off the chain but Tasha shouldn't have let another chick into her bedroom from jump. That was just plain dumb, if that was the case she should've just invited Charli right on in. When Trey said they should move she should've picked a different state. Everything was all bad for them I can't wait for what happens next.
Now that, my friends, was painful.
