this truly did live up to the author's expectations it was really captivating. The author states that the first chapter is really gripping and graphic and he was so right in every sense of the word as he depicts the horrid events of November 22, 1963. This book also works itself backwards by starting with the assassination and then in later chapters depicting the most intimate details of Jackie and Jack. Everything from his womanizing, political fanfare, and the loss of a son Patrick which brings them closer together only to be shattered on November 22, 1963 at the loss of Jack. Then at the very end the book comes full circle and talks about Jackie's final days and her battle with cancer.The pictures capture some of the most fascinating times in history I think maybe I'm biased but everything from the young senator to president of the United States. As well as the most intimate moments with the love of his life Jackie and the children. There is also a nice balance of stories of the kids and how Caroline was a well mannered proper little girl and John Jr or John John was a rambunctious little boy and wreaking all kind of havoc for his nanny Maud Shaw.you also see in this book people who were involved with Jack throughout his life from his parents to top-level official cabinet members and chiefs of staff in the White House their quotes make the book all that much more fun to read because they were the people that knew him best next to Jackie of course. Overall, I thought that this was an entertaining book about Jack and Jackie Kennedy. The author explored how the two felt about each other despite JFK's unfaithfulness and how his presidency strengthened their marriage.One small issue I had with this book was that the author summarized other books written about the Kennedys. I recently read Once Upon a Secret: My Affair with President John F. Kennedy, an account that is also mentioned in These Few Precious Days.Nevertheless, this book was well-written and researched, held my attention, and delved deep in Jack and Jackie's relationship.
