Another "ok" book. I picked this book up after reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette for my book club. If the process was reversed, I wouldn't have read the better book. The saving grace of this book was the small amount of humor scattered through it. I also liked following their adventures on the hand drawn map. It made the story more believable. All the character are disgusting. In fact, they are so unlikable that you don't really care what happens to them in the end. Semple definitely got better as she aged. I will not be recommending that my book club add this to their list. I bought this because I wanted to try reading something different. I got different all right. A book about adults who have a pretty good life, but seek other stuff. Other people. Other... activities. Some parts of the book I'll call M-rated. No discussion. It was fine, even funny at times, but I can feel how this isn't my usual genre. However, I'm expanding my "horizon" and with time that 3 may become a 4.
Shame. I loved Where'd You Go Bernadette but could not stomach the unpleasantness of this.

Very enjoyable, loved the characters. Can't wait for another novel by this author.

Didn't finish - couldn't get into it, or sympathize with the characters.
