I really enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention from the very first paragraph and held it till the last page. Christy Williams hasn't seen her younger sister May in 15 years, not since she dropped May off in front of their Great Aunt Edna's house after their parents were killed in an automobile accident, an accident due to their uncontrollable drinking.Christy has led a life of heartache, trouble and despair and has finally found a good job and is beginning to put the past behind her. Then something happens and that life is shattered. Her life is in serious danger and the only thing left to do is go to her sister's ranch. Will May even help her, after Christy abandoned her 15 years ago? May's life is in a bit of an uproar, too, but she counts on God to sustain her through her troubles. This is something Christy wants nothing to do with, however. Will these two be able to mend their bridges? Will Christy be able to look up from the bottom of her bottle to see that God loves her, just as May does? This book is gritty at times and heartbreaking. A life spent without Christ is not much of a life, but God's grace and redemption shine through each page. I look forward to this author's next book. Thicker Than Blood is better than most of today's christian fiction, but that is not saying much. The story does grip you at first, but about three quarters of the way through it begin's to fizzle as the author falls into the trap that snares far to many christian authors...she doubts the readers ability to "get" a subtle message. This lack of trust creates a preachy feel that does not serve the book and in away hurts a good. almost great message. I picked this book up for free and I do not regret reading it, but I stop short of giving it a recomendation.
Do You like book Thicker Than Blood (2013)?
This was going to be a solid 3 stars, but the last 100 pages felt like a big lecture.
