About book There Is No Dog. Meg Rosoff (2011)

Meg Rosoff's way of expression is one of a kind, but can be hard to understand. At the end of the story, I didn't get what actually happened to Bob. And how come he magically disappeared without Lucy? Lucy and Luke, as the ending suggested, became an entity. This is an odd story, and I think Meg Rosoff's was just trying to conjure an original piece of work of a kind. However I still think that it was a tantalizing read. Meg Rosoff always crafts her story in a novel fashion, but her characters all seemed very eccentric and bizarre. But she managed to create another identity of God that no one has ventured before (a horny teenage boy). Terrible, garbage, hated it I went into this book enthusiastic about the premise and hopeful that it would be good. Sadly, it did not take long at all for me to realize it wasn't going to get any better. All the characters are annoying and I can't identify with any of them. Most of them, Bob especially, made me want to pull my hair out and give up right then. Another problem with this book is that basically the only conflict is that Bob "loves" Lucy ( although he barely knows her and is mostly just in love with her looks) but he is immortal. I have seen this time and time again. It is nothing new. It is nothing unique, nor is it done well. Rosoff seems to think that good writing is putting a string of adjectives before every noun and simply listing events with very dry, yet descriptive internal monologue of various characters. This was a major problem for me as I was reading And I couldn't get into it. About halfway through the book I began to skip around quite a bit before giving up entirely, which I eventually did. This is one of the worst books I have ever read and I was terribly disappointed by it. Don't waste your time with it.
