Breathless. That's how I felt when I finished Therapy. My exact words to my husband were "That book destroyed me!" It did, and I mean that in the best possible way. This was my first experience reading a book that touched on mental illness. I wasn't sure how to feel about it at first, but now that I've read it I can honestly say that it was brilliant. My emotions were all over the place... I was happy, I was sad. I was heartbroken, devastated, confused. You name it, I felt it! Some books are really long and drawn out with a lot of filler. Not Therapy. My goodness, there was SO much going on at ALL times. For me, this wasn't about the romance. There was so much more to it. It was deep. There's bullying then there's friendship. There's mental illness, there's loss, there's healing. I cried, a lot. I could go on and on about how amazing this book is but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I went into this not reading any reviews, I just read the brief overview, bought it and started reading it because one of my favorite authors, Colleen Hoover, recommended it. I wasn't prepared for how intense it was, I wasn't expecting to have my heart ripped out of my chest and I sure as heck didn't expect to become so attached to Jessica. Going in blind maybe made me feel this book on a different level because I didn't know how it was going to unfold. Buy it. Read it. Now. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. You may be a wreck and feel like YOU need therapy afterwards, like I did, but it will open your eyes and make you see things, people, in a different light. Thank you, Mrs. Perez, for this amazing story. I can't wait for Therapy Ever After! Books do not make me cry. Sad maybe, but never enough to cry. And this book made me cry. A lot. I’m not talking like sniffling and eye blotting. No. I’m talking snot flinging, heart wringing, chest wrenching sobs. It was ugly. This story was an emotional roller coaster, is all I’m saying. Damn you. And yet, well done. It takes a lot for this hardened heart to get emotional with a book. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
