About book Thea Stilton And The Star Castaways (2008)
This was the first Thea Sisters we read. In it, the girls are headed into outer space to investigate the commercial viability of space flight. They are taken to a space station resort where all kinds of things are going wrong. Will they discover who is sabotaging the expedition and the resort?Rich text clues, vivid illustrations, and informative text boxes make this series entertaining and informative. This is even more far away from Thea Stilton than the last one I read, the Dragon’s Code. Not that it really matters anyway. All I cared about when I bought this book was that they would be in outer space.I really liked the few tidbits about outer space and the new types of technology, as well as the images of these high-tech tools. However, I was displeased with the lack of timing. Like when they described the shuttle, they didn’t show a picture of it until the next page. This is very bad for me because I’m very bad at imagining things lately.The cute fonts seem to be misplaced as well. It’s as if they weren’t given much importance as before. An example of this is the word, “hot.” Usually, they would make the font resemble flames, but they just used some fancy font instead. It really takes the creativity away for me.As of now, I’m probably never going to read a Geronimo Stilton or Thea Stilton book again. I enjoyed reading them as a child, but criticism has made them uninteresting to me.
