About book The Woman Who Wasn't There: The True Story Of An Incredible Deception (2012)

Excellent, disturbing book. I saw the documentary and immediately got the book. There are more details in the book, but I will admit I did occasionally get a little bored (only because I already knew the story). At the same time, the extra details did add to the tale and I found reading the book worthwhile. The book does not speculate about the actions of its main character. Some see this as a flaw. I see it as a strength. No one knows why she did what she did. Speculation would just be speculation.A weird, horrible, wonderful story. I did really enjoy this book. However, after reading some other reviews, I must agree that it does fall a bit short when it comes to delving into the psyche of Alicia Esteve Head. It more or less just recounts the story of a narcissistic woman who gets in way too deep. Which is just fine by me! I feel that in this case, that sort of talk may be more appropriately discussed outside of the book itself. Or perhaps if that's what you are looking for, more of an educational psychology sort of book would suffice for you subsequent to reading this book. Never the less, this is a fascinating story that calls for a deeper dissection of the intricacies of human nature and perhaps even mental illness. I would really recommend the documentary in the same name.
