Extremely funny and very readable. As someone who was basically brought up without a TV, the results of the experiment seem sorta obvious and pre ordained - surprise, everyone is less sleep deprived and actually have lives at the end of it.Though seriously, if she didn't like her kids being so screen addicted why did she give them so much free access to it all in the first place? I mean, I thought my little brother had a problem with his Rome Total War obsession, but it's nothing compared to Maushart's two youngest!Personally, my favourite family member is the pug. There's also some seriously interesting facts about the surprising positive impacts something as simple as family meal times have on literally every aspect of children's lives. I reckon this book is pretty important for parents everywhere. I so adored this book! For me, it didn't really contribute to much new knowledge about technology, I know technology owns us rather than us owning it. But the way Susan Maushart told her and her family's tale about living without it for six months was both funny and inspiring. I recommend it, if not for the panic you'll get when you try to imagine yourself giving up on some technology device you cannot live without, then for the fun story that follows.
Do You like book The Winter Of Our Disconnect (2010)?
Good premise, but the research-y bits were boring, and she got a bit preachy at times.
