About book The War For Late Night: When Leno Went Early And Television Went Crazy (2010)

Being a huge fan of late night comedy, and growing up idolizing all three of the host this book revolves around, I was enthralled with the story of "The War for Late Night". Here's the thing: There are a lot of parts where you read and you're like: "How could he possibly know that's what they said / were thinking. Obviously a lot of this book is mere speculation. Normally, that would annoy me, but Bill Carter is such a good storyteller, that I stopped really caring what parts were more reliable information and what parts were wild exaggerations. It really is a great story that's very well told. Even if you're not a huge late night comedy fan or if you don't really care about the entertainment business, this book is a very fun read. Anyone who has ever been through complicated situations with their employer will appreciate the bum-fuckery that NBC put these guys through. 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely recommend. Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and the Tonight Show. This sounded like an interesting book about what really happened a couple years ago when Leno retired to an earlier time slot and Conan ascended and then was dismissed from his dream job. Unfortunately the author made the story boring by his exhaustive research and detail. I literally never thought I would finish the book. I think the only people that really want this much detail are in the television industry.
