About book The Viking (2000)

I love the story line. Historical fiction is my favorite to read.Stefan is a Viking, but what a punch life gives him, when he travels with dad for the first time on the Viking ship?Lost and tragedy, as well as treason, captivity, slavery, and love meet him on the way he tries to discover who he is.Will it be all well at the end or will he face the death? Will he lose his love to another man while he is in a bondage?* My review is based solemnly on my opinion. THE VIKING opens somewhere during medieval times when a group of Norsemen are getting ready to invade Scotland. Kannak, at thirteen, was expected to marry. Unknownst to herself, her father belonged to the nobility. But she was spirited, proud and yearned for adventure. Little did she realize how her life would soon change.Fifteen-year-old Stefan had crossed the North Sea for the first time with his father. He was a Viking but all of his people had perished when they landed in this wild land. His mother had been a Scot but she was gone, too. Unexpectedly rescued by two women, the young man finds purpose by taking care of Kannak and her mother.THE VIKING was a mild romance with several important characters besides Stefan and Kannak. It was a tale of betrayal that inspired action. At the same time, it was overshadowed with religious overtones when monks and priests were both feared and appreciated.
