I was hoping she'd do Frankie's story! Of course I was upset that he was hurt by his mate though. I really liked the explanation of Dobs's fear. It seemed real and palpable. My only qualm was his sudden acceptance and change in attitude. It was just too fast. I think they needed a few more incidents of misunderstanding to show growth. Overall it was a fun and satisfying read. It solved my curiosity about Frankie and whatever became of him. My first reaction after reading this story was 'Wow!'. I am just so floored by the pairing for this story of Dobs and Frankie and just how into the story I was.When both characters in separate books were secondary characters I was struck by how much I was interested in seeing with whom each would be paired. Not in a million years did I imagine it would be each other. But, oh my, it sure worked for me once I thought about it.Vincent 'Dobs' Marche', a vampire, has a prejudice against shifters and he almost gets near death before he admits to his friends that fate has chose a shifter for his 'beloved' or 'mate' as the shifters call it. Naturally, as friends do, they give him a verbal boot up the butt and drag him back to Stone Ridge to figure out which of the wolves from several months ago at a shifter meeting he attended was the one who smelled like his beloved.Frankie, a wolf shifter, is no ordinary individual. He experienced a head injury as a small child that left him a little slow and one who struggles to reason complicated things out, but he has a heart of gold and is eager to embrace the idea that his mate has been found.Unfortunately, between Dobs reaction to shifters and Frankie's need to shift and protect Dobs the first chance they meet, things don't get off on the right foot. Dobs freaks at the sight of Frankie's wolf and Frankie is cut deeply when Dobs calls him an animal.The two have their work cut out for them to make their mating work, but they may not get their chances because Dobs' long time enemies are closing in while he is distracted.I really enjoyed this latest installment in the series between the relationship conflict and the plot line involving Dob's enemies. It was one of the best stories in the series IMHO. Can't wait for who gets their story next.
