Even better than volume two! Carey ups the metafiction stakes by inserting a Choose Your Own Adventure chapter! Marvelous! I'm disappointed that the story-within-the-story has taken on a cliche messianic quality, but the author in me loves the tension over a hack version of the tale being written - of course, how else to destroy a writer's powers in a world where fiction has power as long as people believe in it? A crappy sell-out sequel! This has been my favorite volume that I have read so far. I liked that we got to hear Wilson explains some things that had been hanging out there from the previous volumes. It ended pretty quickly, as did Wilson's life, but some issues were covered. Not a fan of the pick your story section on Lizzie Hexam. Despite going through it slowly I still feel I missed exploring one of the avenues that story could take. Plus with so many possibilities I still don't feel like I know Lizzie's story.
A choose your adventure story for Lizzie Hexam was just too weird. It gave no definite background.
