About book The Unhealthy Truth: How Our Food Is Making Us Sick And What We Can Do About It (2009)
Very good book on Americas' food supply and it's connection with GMO's and the growing epidemics of food allergies, ADHD/ADD, Alzheimer's, various cancers, etc. The author also highlights the big corporation/big industry/FDA links that "feed the problem". Her writings are backed with findings from reputable research sources such as The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, etc. Although O'Brian isn't writing on a groundbreaking new topic, I give her props for her writing style and the enormous amount of research compilation she (her team) had to do to pull this off in such an organized, informative fashion. Informative, especially when she describes the incestuous relationship of the food regulatory agencies and Big Agribiz and Big Food. Most of the information presented was not new to me; it seemed to be targeting parents who are feeding their kids processed foods and only starting to begin their journey into "real food" after a diagnosis of an allergy. I think this audience will find her book to be useful, especially her suggestions on how to wean kids off chemicals-laden "food". I, however, didn't find it to be particularly good as I don't think she went far enough. The BEST book on the topic on what to feed your children that I've read to date is Nina Planck's Real Food for Mother and Baby.

I wasn't crazy about her writing style, but the content was vitally important.
