About book The Undead In My Bed (2012)

Shades of Gray by Katie MacAlister2 starsObviously the title is a rift of the popular erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Gray'. Use a little imagination already. Gray was annoying and grouchy while Noelle was overly chipper and talked too damn much. The conversations were strange and mostly stupid. I'm it was a short story or I would have been irritated if I wasted my time to read a full-length novel about these characters.Undead Sublet by Molly Harper4 starsI thought this was pretty good and creative. Tess is an overworked chef who needs to take a break before she completely breaks down. She meets Sam, the vampire owner of the house she rents, not realizing he already lived there when she signed the lease with his ex-wife. They definitely don't start off as friends, playing pranks on each in hopes that the other person will leave. Eventually they become friends and decide to work together to get the house from his ex-wife by winning a cook off for vampires and win the cash prize. In return, Sam would help renovate the restaurant that Tess purchased. Both were unique and likable characters. The antics were hilarious and you go on the emotional roller coaster with them. P.S. Lindy is a stupid b***hOut with a Fang by Jessica Sims4 starsDefinitely the best one of the group. I have been a fan of Jessica Sims work for a while now. This had an interesting twist to the plot that I hadn't been expecting: a real breakup by staged cheating. I don't know why, but Ruby doesn't seem like a fitting name for a Jaguar, but whatever. Michael a vampire, typical, but likable. A reunited/rekindled love stories are always great reads. One critique, who makes the hero wear tighty whities? That seems laughable considering the dude is rich... The reason I picked this book up in the first place was to read the middle story, "Undead Sublet" by Molly Harper. I love the Half-Moon Hollow/Jane Jameson books, and truly wish I could move there and hang out with Jane, Andrea, Jolene... and now Tess! The first story in the book, "Shades of Gray" by Katie MacAlister, was a big disappointment. I was excited that it was set in the Czech Republic, but the characters were poorly developed and not very likeable. Plus, the author used a lot of terminology that I'm sure makes sense to someone who regularly reads her books, but that I found confusing. Made me want to avoid her books, rather than seek them out.The final story, "Out with a Fang", was a pleasantly surprising discovery! I had never read anything by Ms. Sims before, and I found the romantic scenes in this book downright steamy. Unlike the first story, I had no trouble at all connecting with the characters or understanding and believing in the world the author had built. Time to look for some more titles of hers!
