About book The Truth About Riley (2013)

DNF at about 60%.Such a shame... I just couldn't get into it. The dialogues - which given the nature of their relationship should have been the selling point - were sooooo forced and unrealistic, it annoyed the crap out of me. Then came the phone sex part - the one part I was counting on to turn things around - and it just left me laughing out loud, and not in a good way. So awkwardly voiced, it had me wincing in embarassement after a few sentences in.I scanned through the rest of the book, but I just wasn't invested enough in the characters to finish. The premise was so good, but it just went on too long, and it felt like a chore to read so I just. Stopped. LOVED this book. Riley was burned in a fire. Being his own worst critic, he buries his heart and thinks no one could ever be physically attracted to him or love him. He finds a number believing it is phone sex line. The number belongs to Cam. His ex posted the number for revenge.Cam and Riley spend time talking, texting and getting to know each other. Read the book and find out how it unfolds. It is a wonderful journey. I am holding out hope for second book!

This book should've been called "Riley's pity party". God, what a pathetic whiner. Yikes.

Sad. Plodding. Irritating. Skimmed entire passages and in the end was just frustrated.
