Such a good book! The beginning was a bit slow and I thought about putting the book down but I'm glad I didn't. I loved the ending, I loved the challenge the fairies gave to Rowan and I loved getting to know her character better. I also liked Elizabeth Elvesden's story even though it was told very shortly. The book was full of these interesting little facts and in the end they all come together and unite the story. If that makes any sense at all.. haha I have to say I didn't like it. I was really disappointed with this book. I loved the first book, and I liked Michelle Harrison's writing style, however in this book Michelle Harrison pulls a harry potter and changes the formula. The first book was a mystery with a comedy like flair, the second one was a horror story with allot of drama (thirteen curses not harry potter.) Despite the formula being different the target market seemed to change, this book seemed more targeted to older teens not 9-12 year old kids. I also hated the ending, I don't want to spoil the plot but the ending was sad, anti-climactic, and generally lame. I'm not just saying this because i don't like sad endings, i mean if the ending makes sense, and the tragedy fits well into the story I'll be fine with it. For instance one of my favorite stories is a video game called final fantasy crisis core, and the main character dies in the end (totally sad) but the ending was so beautiful because it wrapped up the story well and it fit with the set up of the story. But i digress I was very disappointed with this book, and am generally done with this series because of it. (i like the first book but I won't waist time reading the third.)
