About book The Thinking Woman's Guide To Real Magic (2013)
Emily Croy Barker must be Magical herself to mix the past, present in to one book.I love the interactions of all characters. I know I have just marked this book as read but in fact I have read it at least 3 times already. It has been over one year since this book has come out.I am anxiously waiting the 2nd one. I hope there is more than 2.I so enjoy this book. I know it takes time to write a book but please- do you have tentative date???EXCELLENT Book I highly recommend it. This book isn't really a four-star for me, but I couldn't bring myself to take it all the way down to a three. On the whole, for me, it was just long. Really long. Longer than long. And forgot to tell very much of a story while being mostly an illumination of one woman's process. The good parts? A complex, layered magical world for its background. Not enough to carry the book for me, but certainly there were parts to admire. (On the other hand, I don't read to admire. I read to enjoy.)Probably I would be less critical if the book's presentation hadn't pretty much declared it to be a cut above, causing me to take a chance on a price point I wouldn't ordinarily consider. So my expectations were high, but weren't met. Others may not be as bothered by this.
