Do You like book The Taste Of Innocence (2007)?
What I liked in this book is that the characters' feelings were acknowledged rather early. Both characters were likable : not conceited, neither too superior, smart and honest. Of course, Charlie only knows it in his head and does not want to believe it, as he's convinced he might otherwise act like his father did and we saw the nefarious consequences of this in A secret love. So he behaves like an ass everyday during the day and not really understands when he gets the cold shoulder in the evening sometimes. The investigation plot was rather interesting. I saw it coming that the orphanage land (Sarah's property) shall be the target of such an extorsion scheme. However I thought it was nicely done and at some point in the story I got confused for a very brief period of time about the villain identity.

WOW!!Never a dull moment for this book. I do admit that at least once i had to put down the book for a while because it made me so mad, but it made the experience even better since, it had the ability to bring out such strong emotions (many, lots and lots of emotions) both good and bad and everything in between. I give a very generous applause to the author, the writing in this story was impeccable, and the no-nonsense twist with the characters was so refreshing. There were definitely many strong messages hidden (and not so hidden) between the lines and they really made you think, and the portraying the obstacles of Charlie's inability to accept and/or return love was just the main one. The characters, as they were not the cliched couple in love, understood each other perfectly and there was a constant no-nonsense attitude when describing them that made the usual situations where jealousy and misunderstanding turn into the regular situations, where there is always a falling out and the characters reconcile after learning they were wrong. They were never portrayed as being oblivious to the obvious which made reading an absolute pleasure. And they never fell for the many opportunities that presented when jealousy or anger could have taken the story down a different path. Bravo!The main line that just "made the book" for me was Malcolm's reply to Charlie's question "the second thing i have to do to induce you to let Sarah go", now wait for it..."it's very simple...TELL HER WHY I SHOULD"Boom! that right there ladies and gentlemen is what sent me swooning.Can't say i agree with the way Malcolm was written out but loved the idea that the a declaration is better received when not in the throes of danger. Wasn't truly a fan of the ending line a bit melancholy, i would have been happy ending it when the bedroom scene but i do appreciate putting my mind at ease. I would have gone crazy without knowing what happened to Malcolm.All in all wonderful, just wonderful. Four stars :D
