24. "Not something that the president of a large chain of successful department stores is used to asking for - and certainly not from her best friend's older brother. But then, Jenna McCue's never gone looking for "stud" services before. And yet, when you think about it, is it really such a big favor? Spencer Smith's a professional adventurer - he might look on this as one. After all, he'd be doing something he's never done before… and it would only take a few minutes of his time with a test tube in a doctor's office…And then she would have a baby! The ultimate adventure! Spencer's not sure he wants to father a baby. But if he agrees, it won't be with test tubes or doctor's offices. It will be the old-fashioned way - now that's the ultimate adventure!"Your run-of-the-mill fluffy romance novel. She asks him to father a child, he wants to do it the "old fashioned" way, they fall for each other, get marooned on a deserted island, get off the deserted island and live happily ever after.
This is a fun/funny book. Jenna McCue's grown up now...and not thinking of a man...but definitely thinking of having a child. But she doesn't want all the things that go with "getting pregnant!" So...she gets her mind to thinking what kind of a father she'd like to have for her child - and the only thing that comes to her mind is the brother of her best friend. He's got all the qualities she'd want to see in her child: respectful, beautiful, energetic, smart, charming, and etc. If she could get him to provide sperm for her, she could produce the perfect child. Getting Spencer to agree might be the only problem.
Do You like book The Stud (1999)?
This is one I wish I hadn't had an abridged version of the audiobook. It was so good that I would have enjoyed all the details not just the highlights. Jenna McCue wanted a baby but not a husband. (smart girl). She looks to her best friends brother, Spencer for a sperm donation. He agrees but with conditions. And what conditions they are - so starts a very romantic encounter or two. Barbara Delinsky sure can write romance.Jenna's a very likable character who really knows her mind. And Spencer is a real stud (pun intended). He's the perfect specimen of maleness...a great choice for father material.
