About book The Strangely Beautiful Tale Of Percy Parker (2009)
A pageturner with a well conceived, interesting and exciting world and story. The main romance did bother me a little bit though - mostly the degree of obsession on the part of the heroine towards the hero from first sight. I mean, yes, they were supposed to be the carriers of divine beings who loved each other before and whatever, but still. HE wasn't obsessed at first sight - just intrigued. Also, he's twice her age, and her Professor - she CALLS him Professor! The power dynamic creeps me out a little, especially since both say, and he brags about the fact that, she'd do anything for him. It does balance out a little towards the end - sort of - and I hope as the series continues it will balance out more, but that was my main problem with it. I enjoyed this book, it is exciting and well written. My only issue with this first book in the trilogy is that Percy completely falls apart when Alexi rejects her. She becomes sick w/ grief, albeit the author tries to hide it under the symptoms of her magical awakening it still has a lot to do w/ Alexi's rejection. And prior to that Percy, while I realize she is only 19, acts much younger I'd feel more confident w/ her as the world's savior if she wasn't so fragile and whimsical. But I like the support characters a lot, especially Josephine and Michael.

Great story. Love the gothic aspect and interesting characters who are all too human.

Could. Not. Put. Down. So ridiculously dramatic, melodrama extreme....loved it.
