About book The Spook's Blood. Joseph Delaney (2012)
How I picked the book Lure of the dead is the tenth book in a very interesting series and i found it after reading the ninth.Setting Lure of the dead takes place in Europe before any form of modern technology was invented.Conflict of the main character The main character that you are reading about is Tom Ward. A seventh son of a seventh son and is currently the dark's worst enemy, because of his possession of the devils head. At the same time he is facing both internal and external conflict because internally he has to face parting with Alice by performing the only way of defeating the fiend. Sacrificing her. And also must defeat Siscoi, the vampire god or else he will give power to servants of the dark and will more likely be defeated by them.Characterization Over the series, Tom has gradually become a different person by slowly losing his fear of the dark and maturing into an older person. Also he has become less innocent because of his requirement to use the dark to fight the dark. "Times are indeed tough lad."Theme The theme of Lure of the dead is dark, and at some points, very gory, but it does not stop it from remaining a great book. Reading Strategies One of the three reading strategies that I used was using prior knowledge, like how Tom knows that he will defeat Siscoi from a message from his mom. Another reading strategy that I used was Visualizing. In one of the pages of the book, it paints a very descriptive picture in your mind when Tom decapitates a demon and blood is spraying from his head. The last reading strategy that I used was making connections. I know a little of how parting with friends is, but not having to kill them yourself though. What you thought of the book I, myself enjoyed the book greatly and hope that they come out with another soon. Book #10. Tom and the Spook travel to the town of Todmorden to retrieve some books for their new library, but find the town terrified by foreigners from the other side of the river. Romanian demons are trying to summon one of the Ancients (Siscoi) to aid them in rescuing the Fiend's head from Grimalkin. Meanwhile, Tom Ward is visited by his mother's spirit who tells him that Alice must go back into the dark to recover the third sword needed to forever defeat the Fiend, and the Alice must be sacrificed. Tom rescues the Spook from capture, but is eventually captured by Siscoi, only to discover Tom has now surpassed his master.

the book was great, of course, but, I was so surprised when I read book 11 and it didn't continue from where book 10 left off... now I have to wait to see if the library will even get book 12 and see if it picks up from where book 10 left off... reading from the website it looks like it should but I thought the same thing about book 11... I read like I'm watching a movie and can't wait to see what is happening next!!!
