Publisher's blurb as follows: 40,000 B.C.: A bolt of universal lightning, a crack of divine thunder, and brothers Tashum and Paladin are cast out of Heaven along with one third of all angels, banished to the earth they refused to serve. Tashum lands in the sea, near an island that would later be named Bermuda. Scarred from the blistering heat of his descent, he becomes nocturnal, staring out into the night with his owl's eyes, wondering about his brother and the other fallen immortals now scattered around the globe. And searching for the secret that will allow him to re-enter the Kingdom of Heaven.A.D. 1509: After spending millennia alone, Tashum discovers a sailing ship hung up on a reef, its two inhabitants barely alive, and is able to save them. Fanny and Dickey had been brought back from the brink of death once before - by a being with owl's eyes who gave them each a transfusion of his celestial blood. Tashum recognizes his brother in the tale and immediately sets off on a quest to find him, a quest filled with incredible decadence, vicious betrayals, passions both momentary and enduring, and perhaps the haunting truth behind ... The Silence in Heaven. Oh dear heavens. What an awful awful book. To sum it up in a few words: poorly done Anne Rice for angels. Ack.And I had such high hopes. Dashed to the ground much as the angels were at the beginning of the story.
