Matt has done it again in his second book in the Jack Blank Trilogy.After the first book we see jack getting abused and loved as a hero and a villain as he struggles with his Rustov infection. Only a few friends stay by his side to work against the villains of the Imagine Nations and also the long endless war with the Rustov empire.Jack must learn to master his powers if he is to fight with Empire City against its enemies however there are dark truths circling Jack and the Imagine Nation which one person tries to tell.Can Jack help silence this villain and keep the truth hidden about his darkest secret... his future. Like the Accidental Hero, I think any review of The Secret War must be done through the eyes of the intended readers . . . kids ages 8-14 or so. To my adult thinking, the plot is too shallow and simplistic; the dialoge is forced and unnatural. But no kids will worry about that . . . this book is all about the story, and the story is a whole lot of fun!I'm glad I already have book number three ready to go . . . there's a cliffhanger at the end of The Secret War that's going to drive you crazy!
