Some of us have more scars and emotional baggage than others. While we have moved forward and grown wiser, we never forget the perilous journey we went through.I loved how Tessa had a unique and interesting profession - a walking guide. I looked how her mysterious memories slowly leaked her past like a slow drip, leaky faucet. As a mum, I adored Vince's girls, but most of all Natalie. She, I felt epitomized, what many of us went through in childhood, trying to fit in but different in how we march to our tune. I looked how Vince was a single dad as there are those out there.The aspect of cooking was a terrific element. I love to cook. I need to go back and check out the recipes again. I chose this book based on previous reviews and recommendations from Goodreads. I loved the descriptions of the Southwest and the recipes at the end of each chapter sounded delicious, but I just couldn't stomach the story line. I felt like the characters were one-dimensional. There was the requisite damaged but beautiful but strong and independent female lead. There was the damaged but handsome but helpless with three little daughters male lead. I'm pretty sure they end up together, but I just couldn't finish the book. It followed the typical formula of protagonists meeting and having a spark, falling in love, a misunderstanding and moving away from each other, not being able to stop thinking about each other, and I presume, reconciling. (all within a matter of days) I'm glad others enjoyed this book, but I did not.
