About book The Secret Lives Of The Four Wives (2011)
The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives is a great read. One thing I would do differently, I would by the paperback copy of this book, instead of reading it on Kindle. Baba Segi has 4 wives and keeping them all straight might require most readers to check back on the names and the order of his wives. This is a somewhat different story of a man with 4 wives, it is well worth the read all the way to the very end. I am looking forward to this author's next book, as I was kept interested all the way through, other then mixing up the wives every once in awhile. If I had been smart about it, I would have written their names down on a piece of paper and their order! You will have no problem with Baba Segi's 4th wife! Since it was the monthly Book Club choice, I read it. After reading the description and some reviews, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It was an easy, quick read. Some of the reviews I read mentioned this as a "funny" book. I found it anything but. A sad tale of a Nigerian polygamist who brings home a 4th wife only to slowly unravel his home life. Jealousy ensues, accidental murder is committed and a secret is revealed that threatens to ruin his marriages. My biggest complaint is that each chapter was from a different characters perspective and sometimes I was reading a while before I connected the voice to the character. Should make for interesting book club discussion!
