The first thing I noticed about this book was that it was really heavy for it's size. The second thing I noticed was where the weight came from. Each page is a full color image of a detailed scrapbook printed on thick parchment, providing a 3-dimensional appearance. While the short story wasn't especially note-worthy the unique artistic display was visually appealing and beautifully rendered. Thanks @Rachel for recommending it. I really wanted to love this book, and there were elements of it that I did enjoy. I love the art of scrapbooking and journaling. The story was interesting, the pictures and memorabilia on the page were interesting, and Frankie was a good protagonist. But for all of that, I still felt the flow of the book was hampered by the distractions of the art. At the end, I felt that this was more of a visual book to flip through, rather than eliciting any strong feelings. If there were 2 and a 1/2 stars, I think this would fall into that realm.
