So honestly I never usually pick up books like this for the simple reason that I'm not usually interested. But lately I've been getting into more things about the body and what it does. I'm more interested in the physical anatomy than the chemical reactions of the body, but I digress. I also saw this on the news and thought it was be interesting and it was. Who knew the body could be such a chemical and electrical cocktail from just kissing.What I would like to clarify is that this book is SCIENTIFIC, its not filled with tips on french kissing or anything like that. But because its scientific, it can be a little graphic and a little like reading some grad students research, so be prepared to be bored and want to forward some pages. The book goes into some speculative history of kissing, kissing in cultures, kissing in animals, and of course the dangers of kissing, etc. Firstly the chapter about bacteria kinda grossed me out so floss, brush, and use mouthwash people! No excuses.People can actually, though rarely, die from a kiss.Either way, it wasn't bad; not a particularly light read,a little cumbersome, but not bad. This book isn't some trite adolescence book on how to kiss. No, Kirshenbaum, delves into research to bring out points unheard of in the classroom, concerning pheromones, how birth control inhibits our pheromone receptors so we are unable to pick a suitable mate, what happens in the brain when we kiss, etc. For a scientific book, it kept me engaged and wanting to delve deeper into my own research. This book is top notch and a great read, even for those who aren't looking to go into the medical field.
