About book The School Of Good And Evil (2013)

This book was not what I expected! I picked this up from the 8-12 year olds section and was expecting to find it too young for me as I am used to YA books like Hush Hush and Divergent. But I was most certainly proved wrong! This book contained so many twists and turns that kept me from putting it down! The language used was very artfully written and included many vivid descriptions. All in all an amazing read! The first impression you get of the characters makes the story seem fairly light hearted with Sophie seeming like a spoiled, selfish girl and Agatha seeming like your average strange, introverted girl. But don't let these first impressions fool you! For the second half of the book, prepare yourself for many horrifying, dark plot twists that will leave you questioning why this book is in the children's section rather than the teenage section! The only thing I found fault with in this book was the fact that supposed 12 year olds (I got the impression that they were around this age) were acting more like 16/17 year olds! We all know that 12 year old boys don't normally have 'bulging muscles' right? Apparently here they do. And I'm pretty sure 12 year old girls don't wear tons of make up either!Apart from that detail though, I fell completely in love with this world! I am very much looking forward to buying the next book in this series! I won't spoil the ending but I will just say this: THE AUTHOR LOVES CLIFFHANGERS!!! (Just preparing you!) This book is mainly about two girls that are polar opposites, that have to endure through many obstacles just to get home. Even though they are complete opposites they cant help but meet each other. Yet if they want to meet each other they would have to do it secretly, if they are are caught they would either be tortured, or locked in their room without food.As you can see one girl has it easier then the other girl. Agatha the girl who goes to the school for good has it much easier than Sophie. Their looks might deceive you at first, for example Agatha goes to the school of good but dresses as a goth. Then we have Sophie the conceded and cares way to much about her looks kind of girl. The time period is considered to be a mythical era. Meaning the girls have to learn magic. Depending on what school they go to, they have to learn different kinds of magic. I wished that they would give me a little more information about the time period. The author only gave me little pieces of information when it came to the time period. I felt a connection between me and Agatha. Just like Agatha I wear black. What I'm trying to say is that people judged her by the way she looks and dresses, just like me. I think this book would be good for timid kids. This book can defiantly help kids come out of their comfort zone. The only thing I would have to question is what ever happened to Agatha's dad? I predict that the true story will be revealed in the upcoming books.

Do You like book The School Of Good And Evil (2013)?

An incredibly fun twist on fairy tales, the school for good and evil stands tradition on it's head and asks if the two really exist? Two girls are chosen for the school, and seemingly placed on the wrong side. Dark Agatha is put into the school for good, while beautiful Sophie finds herself in the school for evil. The two friends struggle to remain so whole being told that they cannot be if they want a happy ending. Though the premise is great and the dialogue witty, the plot becomes more and more complex, to a point where it's nearly impossible to follow. Regardless of the twisting and turning of the tale, this book is a fun read with a lovely message that being human is so much nicer than good or evil.

Firstly I'm in my med 30s and I enjoyed this book, it's young young adult and aimed at 9-11 year old girls. I can see why the 14 year olds are whining, ignore them, this book was not written for them. I was expecting HP but where the heroes were girls, I was mistaken, this is much much darker. Iirc a fair comparison between the two would be that part in dumbledore's first speech where he forbids people to go into places because they are dangerous. In this world, they really are.

This is my favorite book and I absolutely loved it!
