About book The Sandwich Swap (2010)

This is a cute and true story about two best friends (Lily and Salma) that eat a very different sandwich for lunch together daily and begin to fight over which is better and even their peers begin to pick sides of whether peanut butter or hummus. By the end they reach an agreement to swap sandwiches and try the other and find the like them. This book demonstrates the importance on judging multicultural differences and friendship. "The Sandwich Swap" is a story about two girls who share a lot of things in common, but sit down to lunch together saying that they don't like what the other one is eating. This sparks a school-wide argument about lunches, which eventually causes the two girls to feel bad. So, they decide to try each other's sandwiches and discover that they like them, and get the whole school to join in as well. I enjoy this story because its a creative way to have children understand the appreciation of different cultures and backgrounds
