I've read a few Dekker books, and I think I'm just not a huge fan of his...I don't mind horror and thriller and gore, but I have a hard time getting into his books...This one started out slowly for me, not sure if the characters just didn't appeal to me or what....I finished the book because I rarely quit, but I did consider putting it down about 1/4 of the way in probably. Towards the end I was a little more interested to see how it would end, and I didn't have the bag guy figured out, but I just wasn't really into the book. May be the last Dekker I read since my TBR pile is huge... I thought the book was a fairly intense read. I finished it in a week and enjoyed the suspense within the plot. My suspicion of whom I thought was the obvious villain was validated, but there was a neat surprise at the end. Danny seemed to me to be an image of Christ suffering for His beloved, the Church. Although the analogy was not perfect, there were several common threads that I appreciated and the book contained several important lessons regarding love, forgiveness, and justice. All in all, enjoyable. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
