3.8 Stars. Public Library 8/28/14. I wasn't sure how the last book was going to go. It's been a long journey with a lot of different moving pieces. Rafe up until this book has been a relative mystery. The author did a good job introducing a character we've heard a lot about but didn't really know. His journey to England was interesting less action packed as the others but more suspenseful. Things heat up after he meets Loretta a young English woman traveling with her elderly great-aunt. When we finally get to the climax of the Black Cobra issue nothing happens as you'd expect. In fact you might want to go back and reread from the other books to confirm details. Near the end the side characters seem to take over and the four officers from the beginning get a little muddled in all the support people. Other then that we get a nice well rounded ending. This is the second book I have read of the Black Ccobra Quartet series of four books. The books are about each of the men who carried copies or the original of a letter that was to expose the Blackc Cobra. This book is about the man who carried the original letter and the adventures that he went through to complete his assignment. His name was Captain Rafe Carstairs. It also follows the adventures that he encounter through his association with Loretta Violet Mary Michelmarsh and her Aunt Esme. In order to blend in as travelers, Rafe and Hassan his guard/traveling companion, joined with the two ladies as their protector and guide respectively. Little did he know that the ladies had real threats of their own to deal with. I was surprised at who indeed the Black Cobra turned out to be, and how the story came to an end. I would recommend it to those who like a little mystery and adventure thrown in to the romance in the story.
Maybe it was just me but ,I didn't care for it.
