Gotta give it up for a book about a baseball player. They are my favorite type of sports player. In this one Cole is trying to change his public image in order to get a new contract. Liza is trying to raise money for a camp for boys to better their baseball skills but can't afford it. Liza and Cole have a past in which he was one of those players at her dad's camp and she had a crush on him. They both begin a relationship with secrets, but their story is a cute one. This was a clean book. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger. Enjoyed this one sooooo much!I stumbled across this book this past weekend, and boy am I happy I did! The Practice Proposal has all the good stuff of a romance story should have and left me full of warm fuzzy feelings. This is the story of Liza and Cole. Liza knows what it's like to have her heart feel love and then have that love taken away. Because of her past she insists on focusing on her work for her team's charity organization. The last thing she wants is to start dating, especially when her mother sets her up on a date with the object of her teenage-hood crush. Cole Collins. Cole has a bad boy reputation. It's not a problem in his eyes but to everyone else, especially the ones holding his future contract in his hand, it's a big one. He follows his agent's advice to use the date with Liza Sutherland to gain some positive credibility to improve his image. What he didn't count on was that Liza Sutherland wasn't the young girl he remembered. She'd grown up and almost instantly he was the one who had the crush on her now. After her date with Cole had passed, Liza assumes she can go back to life as she knew it - Cole-less. But when his agent shows up with an offer that's too good to turn up, she finds herself agreeing to pretend to be in a relationship. "Cole was the same guy deep down - still looking for a place to belong." "...She was also the one girl who might be able to see through him." You probably don't have to guess hard to figure out what comes next. Be that as it may, I would have been disappointed if this story wasn't what I had expected. The best part about it for me was that, after the conflict arises, the resolution isn't long and drawn out. They both shared their own part and didn't hold onto some grudge to keep them apart. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and give it 4.5 stars! I look forward to reading the next one in the series starring Liza's best friend Paige.
