I enjoyed the book and applaud the actions of this family. Yes, most of us can make way in our lives to give of ourselves and our wealth to others. His statistics of wealth and how little is used for charitable giving is extremely accurate. I just found it difficult to identify with some of their difficulties. This experience was so new as it was laid out to be printed. I would like to do some additional googling to find out how this adventure turned out over the long haul. I understand that their success or failure is not the point, that each person's adventure will be different. But I guess I want to find out what happened to the kids as they got older. I had a hard time with this at first. I can relate to a lot of other reviewers who have complained about the entitlement problem- the fact is, most families are not in the stable financial position of this family, and truly cannot afford to give in their fashion. There is also some truth to the complaint that they seem a little breezy about the whole thing, despite many many references to hours-long family meetings and discussions. However, they address this head on, and challenge others to give in other ways. I love Hannah's "Time, Talent, Treasure" cards, in which she recommends listing out what you DO have in excess, and giving half of that. For instance, if you watch 3 hours of TV per week, give up 1.5 hours and volunteer for an organization that suits your talents. By the end, I found their family project to be emotionally moving and I am glad that I read about it.
