About book The Perfect Someday (2000)

Beverly Preston has become my travel agent of choice. Bora Bora, Greece, and now, Italy. This is the palette Ms. Preston has used to create the background for the Matthews-Clemmins family. Bringing the family to life, each story has been a little more vibrant than the one before it.This latest layer of the family portrait immerses us in the sights, colors, scents, and romance of Italy and the wine growing countryside that is Tuscany. Ms. Preston vividly describes the countryside, that is so familiar and precious to our hero, Vincent, and we can't help but fall in love with it all, right along with Tracy Matthews, our heroine. We get to watch the wall, built by sorrows from the past, crumble and fall away from Tracy's heart. Not only must she bring down her own wall, but she must also break through Vincents' past memories and thaw a heart that has been frozen in time. Who is at fault for loss of years and suffering they have both endured? All of our favorite characters through the series play a part in this magnificent love story and I felt immediately at home in their presence. Tracy and JC start the story out on their annual summer trip to Greece where they crash a wedding and are saved from being ejected by a handsome Italian hunk. It is their last night in Greece and Tracy has been searching for the perfect place to photograph the vibrant Grecian sunset. The hunky Italian knows just the place for her to get her perfect photo and whisks her off toward the sea. At the end of their perfect 'first date' the Italian asks for Tracys' phone number so he can keep in contact with her and make plans to visit her back in the states. She enters her number into his phone and slips the phone back into his pocket ... and never hears from him again.Vincent and Antonio are the fifth generation to run their family winery, they are brothers, and they do love each other, but they hold very different views regarding life, love, and the running of their business. Vincent clings to the old manners and ways, while Antonio is set on modernization and expansion. Vincent is very reserved, and angry. Antonio is gregarious and full of life. After graduation, with a degree in business, Tracy is thrust into the mix tasked with finding a way to keep their family business from collapsing around them. What she finds while working with them both is something she thought never to find again. There are lots of bumps and surprises in the Tuscan countryside and Ms. Preston moves us steadily along letting us explore the exciting and romantic countryside, but keeping us on track to our destination. The story line is compelling, as always, and the characters have color and depth that is emotionally satisfying all the way through the story. Every book in this series that I read I think, the next one will not be THIS good, but I am happily surprised each time a new book is released, and I have never been happier to be wrong, once again. Tracy and her JC visit Europe every summer. This summer Tracy wanted to visit Greece and this one certain spot for the best pictures possible. When they get there, there is a wedding taking place. This was not going to stop JC from getting Tracy in to get what she wanted. What they didn't expect was it was a masquerade wedding. After the wedding while Tracy was studying the sky and man in a handsome mask came and swept her off her feet. When she was leaving after the reception had ended her sister JC talked Tracy into leaving this man her number. Tracy left her number but when she was back home and time passed and never heard from him she was heart broken. On a visit for her Aunt's anniversary party she was introduced to the neighbors. But what that would lead to Tracy never saw coming. Did Tracy ever find love after the intimate night in Greece? Would her meeting the neighbors lead to her finding love?  Whatever happened with Tracy and the mask man from the wedding?I would recommend this to my friends to read. It is a romantic read. ~Lisa.
