This was more like a 2.5 for me. It was okay mostly but there were some parts of the story I liked. The perfect family consists of Maggie & Mike and their two sons Brian and Jamie. Their perfect life hits a bump when Jamie comes out and lets everyone know he is gay. There is also a minor story about Maggie's older sister who was cast out of her family many years prior for being in a relationship with a divorced man. The story was a bit too preachy for my taste and I felt like the antagonist was the Catholic Church. Ugh..I was able to stomach 3 % percent of this book before I threw in the towel. What really got my stomach churning were phrases like "anticipation of sexual closeness" and "I've got a more powerful ally on my side". Using God as bribery is wrong. I should have known better when I read the description but I decided to give the book a try. But there's just too much religion in the book for my taste.
This was a make you think book in many ways. Religion and Gay rights. I found it very interesting.
