A Paris apartment abandoned for 70 years was a fascinating discovery. After reading this novel based on the discovery, I read the newspaper reports of the event and found them more interesting than the book. I thought the characters were undeveloped and the love story predictable. The details reported in the news articles were accurately included in the book, and that part was fascinating. I wish someone would investigate and write a non-fiction book about the woman who owned the apartment but never returned to Paris after the war. I bet the truth would be more interesting than fiction...it usually is. I had such high hopes for this story! Based on the true story of the abandoned Paris apartment found after 70 years of being closed up, it sounded interesting. Instead it was a poorly written attempt at interesting fiction. As an editor, I cringed at the errors in typing, grammar and overuse of the main character's name instead of inserting a few pronouns from time to time. I wanted to know the "big secret" so I kept reading only to be disappointed and totally aggravated with such unimaginative fluff.
actually, I stopped reading it half-way through. Wasn't my cup of tea. Moved really really slowly
