About book The Outlander Series (Outlander, #1-7) (2012)
I began reading the series after season 1'of the Starz tv program ended and I wanted to know what happens. I was hooked from the beginning and can say became obsessed with reading. Although the books can be difficult to understand and follow due to the use of Gaelic and vocabulary appropriate for the culture and time of the characters, it is well translated and adds a flair to the characters. Apparently there is a Gaelic saying appropriate for any occasion. I did not think that the books were superbly written, but Diana Garabaldon did superbly bring the characters To life with strengths, flaws, and vulnerabilities. I look forward to the next book, but would have been ok if the series had ended where it did, as the characters are aging I would rather be left wondering than to see any of them die. I love this entire series! My mother recommended it to me, and I was able to start at the first book and read them all the way through. Claire and Jamie and their family are great characters as well as Lord John. I grew up and live in Appalachia, and I loved reading their story of coming to America and "settling." I appreciate Ms. Gabaldon's research and efforts to make the story as real to life as it could have been. I look forward to continuing to read more about this family's adventures in the future.
