This dystopian YA novel is set in a scorched world where most people don't show care or concern for one another. Devin seems to be the exception. He has grown up on a remote farm with his grandfather, but when his grandfather dies unexpectedly, he is forced to journey to the city. There, amidst the chaos, he is chosen to go to a special home for special children, but not everything there is exactly what it seems.If you like books that have a slightly creepy feel to them, then this book could be for you. I thought it was a good read for the month of October. A haunting glimpse of a future with a damaged environment and dysfunctional society, where childhood is valued but children are not. Devin has had a sheltered life, growing up on an isolated farm with his grandfather. When his grandfather dies, Devin must leave the farm and go into the city. He eventually finds his way to the mysterious Home for Childhood. A well-paced dystopia that is at times heartbreakingly sad, but always interesting.

This book was really awesome, while i found it to be creepy and bizzare at times, I still loved it!
