In reading the other reviews for the book, I can completely understand how many people might feel confused or conflicted in their feelings towards this book. It doesn't quite "feel" the same as some of Emily Giffin's other novels, and the non-traditional love story was definitely a surprise once I realized that was the direction she was heading. And yet, I really enjoyed this book. I think some of Ms. Giffin's other works are so incredibly conflictual...affairs, infidelity, betrayals...that for me, who sometimes can feel overwhelmed by these intense, controversial, plot lines, I was relieved to have a story that didn't quite hit that level of intensity. I can see how for some, this would be a letdown, but I personally experience enough harsh realism and tragedy through my job, that this book was able to provide enough of an "escape", while STILL being thoughtful,human,and realistic.
