I would recommend this book for anyone that has ideas about how to decorate their house, but is paralyzed by indecision, insecurity or fear. I really like Myquillyn's blog and her overall message (it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful). She practices what she preaches (which you can see more so on her blog) and I enjoy her willingness to show the process of her rooms and ideas coming together. This book is not a good book to read if you are looking for practical ideas that you can apply to your own house- there are certainly a few, but it's more about the underlying attitude behind all of the ideas. *Updated two months later, I'm upping this to a 4 star for providing long-term inspiration* ... Probably a 3.5. An easy read, lots of photos. I don't read the author's blog. The message "It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful" is valuable, but probably didn't need to take up the first half of the book. The second half had some more specific decorating ideas. I was a little taken aback by her cavalier attitude toward rental decorating - it's ok to paint brick and paneling (can't undo that) as long as you don't mind losing your deposit? It did inspire me to shuffle some furniture and decor in my home!
Skimmed through this home and decorating book. Not my style, but no blame given to the author.
