Apparently, I read the first four Hunter Kiss books before joining Goodreads. I will need to read the series again and write reviews for the first three books. In the meantime, I have been putting off reading Labyrinth of Stars, because I know I will be a Burrito of Sadness at the ending of this luscious series, but I can delay no longer. Reading Mortal Bone again will give me a chance to write my review. So, time to venture into Maxine's incredible world.The Mortal Bone is not a joyful walk through a Disneyland of bluebirds and daisies. This book is a desperate stagger through a land filled with nightmare dangers and horrific choices, while clutching the hand of the man you love more than life. There are small spots of joy, but they appear like violets blooming on a bloody battlefield. In other words, The Mortal Bone is urban fantasy at its spectacular best...And now it is time for Labyrinth of Stars. Okay, this book threw me off. It wasn't like the others at all. The others were all leading up to something huge but this one, not so much. Yes, there was some key players and factors that happened in this novel but it just felt different. It almost felt wrong reading it. Something felt off to me. I don't think this book is the last in the series but it most certainly could be in a lot of ways. Either way, the book was great, just different in a weird way. I'm a bit confused about Maxine and the whole pregnancy thing, it seems like a hell of a lot of danger..
