If you read this book, you have to be willing to suspend belief a little bit, especially towards the last 1/4 of the book. However, with that being said, I really really liked this book. The reason for only 4 stars is because it took me quite a few chapters to really get invested in the story, to the point that I almost stopped reading the book. I am so glad I continued on though, because the story sped up significantly. Another criticism I have is that there were a few unresolved things (in my mind) when the book ended and the book ended very quickly, at least for me. The last 1/3 or 1/4 of the book was moving at lightning pace and then it just....ended. The book left me wanting for more details and I was left with questions. Overall, I did really enjoy the story, the intrigue and all the twists and turns. It made it hard to put the book down once I started getting into the story because I always wanted to know what happened next and then another twist threw me. To me, this is a great beach read or a curl up by the fire with some hot cocoa read. The resort where I stayed this past week had a "lending library" and I picked this up from the shelf. (Thank goodness since I ended up reading a lot more than I had expected!) It seemed to get decent reviews on Goodreads and it sounded interesting, so I gave it a whirl. It was a fast read but it was like an entire season of Grey's Anatomy rolled into 300 pages. It contained:- child with cancer- divorced parents getting back together- children switched at birth- an affair (but only one, thank goodness)- teenage angst (way too much of it, IMHO)- a mysterious letter with a confession- grieving widow- surrogacyI thought that Chamberlain fell into the common trap of trying to write from too many perspectives and I could never tell Tara or Emerson apart. I could figure out better Anna but I think that was because her story was so different. Grace had a fairly unique voice, too but I didn't care about her story at all. Others had talked about all the twists this book too but I saw most of them coming (except for Noelle's surrogacy). I also started looking for coincidences everywhere and at one point thought Tom the nurse in VA would end up being James' son that Noelle helped deliver. It was a good beach read, but I put it back into the mix of the lending library once I'd finished.

This is a great book, plenty of twists in the relationships. Definitely worth reading.
