Very good series. I found it hard to read Harvards book in the beginning but I'm glad a i stayed with it as it was very interesting towards the end. I just felt the beginning was slow and covering old ground that anyone who had read the rest of the series would have already known. Lara Adrian is a great writer with an amazing imagination. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and have already pre ordered it. As shown, this collection contains the first 8 books in this series. I took a chance after reading a review of this series and ordered the entire collection. I do not regret doing so, as after reading book 1 I was happy that I had them all and also made sure I preordered book 9.In this twist to the vampire story, vampires are known as The Breed. They all descend from aliens that crash landed on earth more than a thousand years ago. These aliens follow the regular vampire story line in that the sun will kill them and they must drink blood from live humans to live. A difference in the storyline is that although the breed are living being, who because of their alien genes can live a long time, never get sick and can heal from injuries very fast but can also die if hurt bad enough. Also included in the storyline are human women that are identified by a certain birthmark. These women, called Breedmates, who because of something in their DNA can mate with breed members and have children (who are always male). They also can live a long time, heal fast and never get sick as long as they drink blood from a breed member.The series revolves around a group of the breed who call themselves The Order. Their main job is to hunt down and kill members of the breed, called Rouges, who have given in to bloodlust and just start to kill with no regard to the possibility of discovery by normal humans. The normal breed member while he must drink blood from a living human to survive will usually pick up someone, drink, seal the bite and using their powers erase the bite from the memory of the person bitten, thus maintaining a balance between humans and breed. Of course there has to be someone who has decided that members of the breed should control the world with normal humans basically becoming nothing but a food source, with him (of course) ruling the breeds.How he plans to do this and the books, (each book follows a different member of the order), show how the order found out about this and what happens as the order tries to stop him.
