About book The Man You'll Marry: The First Man You Meet\The Man You'll Marry (2009)
I checked out this two story book from my local e-library. The first story, Shelley's is good but too short. Jill's story is good also but I wish that DM had focused more on her loneliness toward the end. That's just me, I am not afraid to be reminded of how susceptible humans are to a lack of human interaction. Jill's solitude at the end reminded me of the movie W./E. It was palpable, but I wished it had been conveyed more fully. Macomber knows how to express characters' emotions. I liked the first story and characters best but found it too short. I didn't like the second story as well. As good as Macomber is at expressing character motivation, she didn't convince me that the heroine wasn't being manipulative. The magical dress worked for me in the first story, but not the second. It only seemed like a way to tie the two together and not done very well at that. I never felt any happiness from the second heroine, Jill, and felt sad she wasn't happy on her wedding day.

Very cheesy chick lit. But a good escape if you're looking for a "happily ever after" book.
