You know what they say...fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Well, I am clearly a fool and need to pay closer attention to the sale books bloggers post on the FB. Because I started the trilogy that precedes this book, and couldn't make it through the first book. I started to read this, clueless that it had the same characters that I already hated (in my defense, this is marketed as the first book in a new series, with no references to the initial trilogy). Even before I realized who I was reading about, the book began with a very strange scenario. Girl, dressed in a skanky outfit, meets mysterious, sexy stranger at the bar. Sexy stranger propositions said girl, slipping her his hotel key after approximately 30 seconds of conversation. Okay, I'm still hanging in there, but the reservations this girl has do not resonate with her willingness to meet the dude in his hotel room. Then she accidentally knocks on the wrong door, and the sexy stranger has to save her from the creepy stranger. Oh yeah...and it turns out that not only is the sexy stranger her actual boyfriend, but that she's knocked up and this interlude was planned. Okay. Weird, but I'm still trucking along...even as I'm wondering how the bf knew where to find her and how he happened along at the exact right moment. Names are revealed (which vaguely ring a bell, but still no connection made by moi), sex is had (and it wasn't nearly as hot as the scene downstairs promised it should be), and conversation is had. My alarm bells buzz, and I realize who I'm reading about. Ugh! False advertising, but at least I don't need any further excuse to abandon this crap. Soooo CONFUSING??? I feel like there was a book before this- but it's the first in this series? It's jumpy and doesn't have a concrete plot?I'm all for mysterious plots, but this one had gaping holes and I'm annoyed. It left on a cliffhanger, but I don't have intentions of buying the 2nd, even though it started to make a LITTLE more sense. I was still left scratching my head, saying "Wtf was that?"Well- come to find out, it is a continuation of another series. Wow, it would have been nice to know that going into it.
Do You like book The Lover's Secret (2000)?
Very nice read. I loved this book. Now I'm going to start the Surrender Your Love series.
