I read this to see if it would shed light on one of the most unique dinner conversations I've ever had. It did, by the way. Quotes:- There's a reason humans peg-out around eight: prose fatigue. It looks like organ failure or cancer or stroke but it's really just the inability to carry on clambering through the assault course of mundane cause and effect. - - Life is nothing but a statement of what happens to be. - - Humans wear their histories like microclimates. - - The worst horrors confirm a suspicion you've hidden even from yourself. - 3.5 stars. I'm actually fairly torn on this one. I enjoyed Jake, the protagonist, but never felt fully engaged. However I do think this was a very refreshing take on the werewolf genre. Also, to those who complained about this being disgusting in terms of sex...maybe we read different books? I counted three sex scenes tops although I will admit it was talked about quite a bit. However, this is fairly heavy on the violence, so if you have a queasy stomach and don't want to read about someone being flung across a room via their detached spine, it might be best to not look into this one.
