About book The Laird Who Loved Me - Sang Laird Yang Mencintaiku (2013)
It was a good read, especially the bet. Hilarious! Anyway, the story started from our hero, Alexander MacLean, who wanted to avenge his brother to Caitlyn, our heroine. The problem was told in the previous book, it seemed when Caitlyn wanted to trap Alexander to propose her, something happened and it was her twin and his brother who needed to marry instead. Even though his brother was happy with his marriage, he still kept some grudges towards Caitlyn. He intended to embarrass her in front of everyone. So he asked for his ex's help, to invite Caitlyn into her party. Unaware of Alexander's plot, Caitlyn was happy because she finally could be out after three months being punished.When she finally came to the party, she soon learned that Alexander was also there. The obvious attraction was still there and both tried to resist that. Guilty, she came to Alexander to say that she knew he still mad about their sibling's marriage. She then offered a bet. They need to fulfill each other's three terms based on the old local myth. If she won, she wanted Alexander to propose her in front of everyone with the possibility of her accepting just to make him mad. And if he won, he wanted her to be her mistress openly in public for two full weeks. And then the fun began.The story was very good and the process of them fulfilling each other's terms were so hilarious! But unfortunately, the ending fell a bit rushed and short. Maybe if Ms. Hawkins extended it a bit more, it would be better. The age gap was also a bit too large for my taste, though that was just a minor issue. I got to tell you this is a hot book and it's not the sex. It's the by play between Alexander and Caitlyn. I love the hero. He's out for revenge against the heroine but he's falling in love and trying so hard not to that it's funny. There are jealous side characters in the way and Alex can't stop blaming her because of what she did her last London season to trick him wound up forcing his brother into a marriage of convenience with her twin sister. Even though the marriage is happy now. Caitlyn is a stunning beauty the draws attention to the extreme and that just pisses him off more. He decides to get her invited to a house party to ruin her and walk away.. Caitlyn and Alexander's battle is well worth the read. It will make you mad and make you laugh and then fall in love with Alexander.
