About book The Knowledge Of Good And Evil (2011)

Cliché upon cliché, and very bad writing. The language is very, very simple - but for odd reasons, the author uses three different words for a novice, and, for no reason whatsoever, his heroes are genuflecting down skiing slopes. The whole story feels like a cheap imitation of Dan Brown.I was intrigued to read about Heaven and Hell, but learned little - except, perhaps, that the most appealing "person" in the whole book was the demon guiding the hero, Ian, through Purgatory and Hell. The way he was described, I even imagined him kind of cute.A few good points (and reasons why I bothered reading till the end, despite shrugging at the heaps of "sweethearts"): Hieronymus Bosch with a tantalizing explanation and a little twist, and the descent through Hell, which was quite enjoyable (also thanks to the CUTE guide). Also, there are some (clearly research-based) references to mankind's search for knowledge of Hell, and they're fun at times. The real-life scenes, especially the conversations between the enormously rich Ian and stunningly beautiful Angela (the main heroes of the story) are unbearable, and I started skipping them very soon. One of the main villains is Czech, and he sometimes reminisces in atrocious Czech, which makes him a totally incredible figure. Oh, and you get to meet God at the end. Still not really worth it, though. Once again Mr. Kleier has created a wonderful mix of an enjoyable, exciting read & as a Christian made me re-think my belief system & how I see the world!! While not a book for every Christian believer as it does call into question long held religious tenets and some may find it objectionable, but for someone who enjoys being challenged, having their world expanded or just enjoys an exciting & intriguing read then this book is for you. This is not a Christian novel but it delves into religious questions of Faith & our understanding of God & Heaven vs. Hell. I personally found it a gripping, exciting, engulfing read & could not put it down. Religion aside it is just a fun, fast read perfect for a summer book choice or a winter under the covers book!! Well done for another triumph Glenn!!
